Types of Herpes
Herpes is common sexually transmitted disease that affects your genitals. There are majorly two types of Herpes Simplex Viruses: HSV-1 and HSV-2. You can easily identify the type of herpes that has infected by the kind of symptoms that appear on your body. However, both of them do have a common set of symptoms as well like high fever, red skin, fever and discomfort.
Herpes type 1
This type occurs with the infestation of Herpes simplex virus-1. This virus attacks the oral area of your body. Thus, it basically targets the inner as well as outer side of your mouth. The most characteristic symptoms of this virus are cold sores, blisters, red spots on the upper lips tongue, throat and the roof of the mouth. Apart from these noticeable symptoms, the person suffering from the infestation of HSV-1 may experience muscle pain, continuous head aches, tingling, itching, burning sensation, fever and other discomfort. This virus triggers a very discomforting disease. It literally makes your eating and drinking endeavor difficult. Most of the infected patients experience acute throat pain at the time consuming their meal or drinking water.
HSV-1 can also cause infection in the genital areas of both male and female. This can become worse can trigger genital herpes. This virus extremely contagious! The major cause of contracting this virus is one’s active participation in oral sex or intercourse with an infected person. It can also spread through the skin-to-skin contact with the herpes suffering person. This virus can also spread by sharing utensils, razors, towels or utilities of the infected person.
Herpes type 2
This type of herpes occurs when the body is attacked by herpes simplex virus-2. This virus targets the genital area of males and females. It is in fact, the main cause of genital herpes. It spreads mainly by maintaining sexual relationships with an infected person. Once this virus enters your body, it settles down in a latent state. It remains in the dormant mode for long before getting activated. Like herpes simplex virus-1, this virus is also very contagious. Apart from sexual relationships, it can spread through skin-to-skin contact with the suffering person. It can play havoc with your body even if you accidentally touch the open blisters or sores of the infected person. It can also spread by sharing the toiletries as well as the cutleries of the infected person.
The main path of transmission of both HSV-1 and HSV-2 virus is intimate and sexual contacts. Once the virus enters your body, it remains active for a long period of time. Both oral and genital herpes type virus may give deceiving impressions to the sufferer. The symptoms of both the types herpes may disappear at one stage. But this does not mean that the virus has been eliminated or flushed out of the body. It gets reactivated with the emergence of outbreaks at regular periods. Factors like exertion, stress and metal disturbances can aggravate the intensity of the disease in your body.
